The whole plant contains friedelin, glutinol, α-amyrin, betulinic acid, ifflaionic acid, dulcioic acid, scoparic acid A, scoparic acid B, scoparic acid C, scopadulcic acid A, scopadulcic acid B, scopadulin, scoparinol, dulcinol, benzoxazolinone, 6-methoxybenzoxazolinone, 5,7-dihydroxy-3′,4′,6,8-tetramethoxyflavone, 5,7,8,3′,4′,5′-hexahydroxyflavone-7-O-β-D-glucuronide, apigenin, scutellarein, luteolin, vicenin-2, linarin, vitexin, isovitexin, scutellarin, scutellarin methyl ester, luteolin-7-glucosid, acacetin, p-coumaric acid, dulciol, amellin^[1];

The aerial part contains dulciol, scopadiol;

The leave contains glutinol, 6-methoxybenzoxazzolinone, acacetin, scopadulcic acid A^[1];

The roots contains β-sitosterol, hexacosanol, D-mannitol, 6-methoxybenzoxazzolinone, coixol^[1].

1 Antiviral activity: The dulcioicacid B contained in Sweet Broomwort Herb can inhibit the proliferation of the virus in vitro, which function by interfering with the early growth of virus. This product can affect the early course of infection of herpes simplex virus. Oral or intraperitoneal injection of 100 ~ 200mg/kg can delay the appearance of virus-inoculated animal herpes lesions and prolong the survival time [1].

2 Inhibition of the gastric proton pump: This product can significantly inhibit the gastric proton pump (H+-K+-ATP enzyme), this inhibition is reversible and competitive with the half-inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 20～30μmol/L, and this product also has a protective effect on stomach [2] [3].

3 Anticancer activity: 5,7-dihydroxy-3,,4,,6,8-tetramethoxyflavone contained in Sweet Broomwort Herb has cytotoxic effect on Hela229 cell lines、HelaS3 cell lines、HEp-2 cell lines and six kinds of normal human tissue cell lines, and the sensitivity of function is higher for the former [4]. 

4 Hypoglycemic activity: Oral injection of 15 ~ 20mg/kg of Amellin, an important component contained in Sweet Broomwort Herb, can alleviate the symptoms of diabetic patients, both the urine and blood glucose have limited decline in within 30 days [5].
