1.Effect on Smooth Muscle: Purslane extract and potassium chloride crystallization show excitatory effect on uterus from guinea pigs, rat, rabbit and dog[1,2]. Purslane water extract or fresh juice enhance ileum constriction in vitro[3]. In addition, Purslane still possess anti diarrhea effect induced by sanna leaf[4].

2.Effect on Sugar and Blood Fat Metabolism: Water solubility and liposolubility extract prolong live time on diabetes rat and rabbit induced by alloxan through improvability lipid metabolism disorder. But there is no effect on blood sugar level[5]. Purslane can improvability lipid metabolism disorder on hyperlipidemia rabbit and Ⅱ diabetes rat[6,7]. Medicated serum from different extract obiviously enhance survival rate on injure fat cell induced by hyperlipoidemia serum[9].

Water extract lengthen mice live time and enhance some enzyme activity, such as Na⁺-K⁺-ATP、Ca²⁺，Mg²⁺-ATP and lactate dehydrogenase. It also inhibit some enzymes like pyruvate kinase and phosphofructokinase[19]. 4. Antibiosis: Alcohol extract display different degree of inhibitory action on Shigella dysenteriae, Escherichia coli, bacillus proteus, Shigella dysenteriae, Salmonella paratyphi, Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Microsporon audouini, escherichia coli, bacterium typhosum and Pseudomonas aeruginosa[1,13]. Water extract display different degree of inhibitory action on bacillus dysenteriae, Epidermophyton inguinale, Gibberella, Aspergillus flavus, racemomucor bacteria and so on[12,14].

5.Anticancer: Water extract and polysaccharides show inbiti activity on S180 in mice through enhance immune function[15,16].

6. Effect on Skeletal Muscle: Water, methanol, ethylether and dialyzable extract show relax effect on skeletal muscle[17].

7.Effect on Cardiovascular System: Parenteral solution make blood pressure decrease transiently on rabbit[1]. Purslane water extract or fresh juice show isoprenaline like effect on heart and trachea[18]. Parenteral may promote center and ending vasomotoric[19]. Water extract show inhibit effect on straub heart[20]. 

8.Promote Ulcer Healing: It contains abundant of compounds like vitamins A. This material may promote physiologic function became normal on epithelial[21]. 

Machixian(portulaca)

1 Bacterial dysentery: (1) Single fresh machixian candy (boiled fresh machixian juice with sucrose to makecandy). 2.5-4.5 years old, 2-3 blocks each time. 4.5-6.5 years old, 3-4blocks every time. 2-3 times a day, take for 7 days. 42 cases in the treatmentgroup, excellent 1 cases(2.4％), effective40 cases (95.2％), 1 cases invalid (2.4％);27 cases used furazolidone in the control group, The 2 groups havesignificant difference by statistics processing（P<0.05.The treatment group was significantly better than the furazolidone group. (2) Clean 1000g fresh machixian, make juice.First cleaning enema with 500ml saline, then keep cleaning enema with machixianjuice 150-250ml, retain at least 30 min. Treatment group 31 cases, control group 31cases intravenous use amikacin and (or) ofloxacin, the 2groups were cured (Clinical symptoms disappeared, Stoolcultures were negative), the average cure time was 2 days in thetreatment group, the control group was 3.5 days ^[2].(3) Freshmachixian 50-l00g, clean, decocted to 300-500mL, 2-3 times aday, oral. 2. Infantilediarrhea：(1)The whole grass of machixian15g,double the amount of fresh, Water decoction, 3 times aday, every time 5-l0ml, regulate diet, oral or intravenous infusions,prevention and correction dehydration. Treatment 30 cases of infantile autumnaldiarrhea,and the control group 30 cases with biqi (Hainan rich seapharmaceutical production), cured 24 cases, markedly effective 4 cases,effective 1 case, 1 case invalid, the total effective rate was 96.67％.Results showed that, The cure rate is better than the westernmedicine group, have significant difference in the 2 groups(P<0.05)[5]. (3) Fresh machixian 30g, clean, mash up, addwater 30- 50ml to decoction 5-10 min, add 10g honey while the liquid hot (Nohoney add white sugar can also be), warm take, 5ml every time, 1-2 years oldevery time l0ml, 3 years old 15ml every time, 3-4 times a day. Treatment 80cases, 65 cases cured, 11 cases improved, 4 cases invalid. The total effectiverate was 95％. The shortest time of take themedicine was 1 day, the longest was 7 days ^[6].

3. Pediatriceczema：(1) Single machixian 50g (Fresh 100g) decoction,hydropathic compress the affected part by pure cotton towel or gauze with thesolution,Daily 1-2 times, each time 30min,5 days a course, exudativetype needs to be extended 1 to 2 courses. Treatment 86 cases, 54 casescured(62.79%), effective 21 cases, accounting for 24.42％,improved 8 cases, accounting for 9.30% and 3 cases invalid, accounting for3.50%. Treatment 30 cases, 24 cases werecured, 5 cases were markedly effective,1 case effective. 2 cases skin dry aftertreatment,improved 2 days after external use sesame oil coating on the affected part ^[8].(3) Oraladministration：machixian6g, difuzhi(belvedere fruit) 3g,changzhu(rhizome atractylodis macrocephalae) 3g, baizhu(rhizome atractylodismacrocephalae)3g, bixie 3g, lianqiao(forsythia)6g, huangbo(Cortex Phellodendr)3g, baixianpi(cortex dictamni) 3g, chixiaodou(vigna umbellate) 3g, Within6 months, half, decoct with, day one agent. Exo-washing：Exudativewith machixian 15g, hezi(Terminalia) 15g, dry machixian 10g, kusen(radixsophorae flavescentis) 10g, all the above add water 1000ml, decoction to500ml, wash affected area, 3 times a day. Treated 121 cases, 76 cases were cured,42 effective, 3 cases ineffective, the total effective rate was 97.52% ^[9].

4. Zoster：Freshmachixian 500g, clean, mash for paste, add 10g bingpian(Borneol)mix throughly, clean the affected area with saline first,then machixian paste apply affected part as coin thickness, cover gauze, 2times daily, local skin lesions disappear, but neuralgia, addxionghuang(realgar), chuanwu(monkshood), shengnanxing(raw rhizome arisaemati)10g respectively, external application the affected area2 timesa day. Treat 44 cases, the time of stop pain, blister, scab and cure wereshorter than penciclovir ointment group, Comparisonof the two groups have significant difference（P<0.01）^[10].

5.Genitalherpes The treatment group oral compound machixian tablets (compose of machixian(purslane),shengyiyiren(raw semen Coicis), baijiangcao(Herba patriniae), fengfang(hive), huangqi(astragalusmongholicus), huangjing(sealwort), gancao(raw licorice root)), 4tablets each time,3 times a day; Thymopeptides enteric-coated tablets (BeijingSihuan pharmaceutical),4 tablets each time,3 times a day. Pay attention to restduring the treat, prevent fatigue, ban alcohol and spicy food and sex life. Twogroups with a course of 3 months, treatment 44 cases, The blisterand crusted time better than acyclovir tablets combined with thymosinenteric-coated tablet group (P<0.05); stop drug in 6 months recurrence ratealso better than the latter, there was a significant difference between the 2groups (P<0.05)^[11].

6. Condylomaacuminatum：(1) machixian60g, fengfang(honeycomb) 9g, daqingye(folium isatidis) 15g, shengyiyiren(raw sememcoicis)30g, water decoction, daily 1 agent, 15 days for 1 course. Treated 26 patients,taking 1 course 15 agents, including 19 cases warts disappeared, the rest ofthe 7 cases of the second course, only 2 cases of lesions were notsignificantly improved ^[12]. (2) Fresh machixian100g ground juice, wipe the warts body or add right amount of water, boilingand decoction 30min, cool to the skin can tolerance after bath or drug residuesoaking, 20min each time, 2 times a day, 7 days 1 course. After the affectedafter dry, fully exposed and wash the wart surface, use cotton swabs taken 5-Fuliquid gently friction verrucous face several times to the wart body greyishwhite, 3 times daily, 7 days 1 course. Treated 125cases, 102 cases were cured, 12 cases were markedly effective, 5 caseseffective, 6 cases were invalid. The total effective rate was 95.2% ^[14]

8. 11.Furuncle of nose：Dry machixian(purslane) 100-120g ordouble fresh, wash and cut up, decocted and take 600 ml medicine juice, 3 timesa day, daily 1 agent, 5 days a course. External application: fresh machixian (Portulaca)50g, pound and add honey external application. Treated50 cases, judge thecurative effect after a course, 35 cases were cured, 11 cases improved, accountingfor 70%, 22% respectively, 4 cases ineffective, accounting for 8%, the totaleffective rate was 92% ^[18]

12. 13. Acutemastitis：Clean and dry machixian (purslane), yanhu(corydalis tuber), shahaozi (artermisia desertorum) respectively, crushed intoa fine powder, over 100 mesh screen, blending alternate. Take right amount ofpowder, liquid medicine and lantern tune into a paste, applied to the affectedarea, covered by a sheet of thin plastic, every 8h change 1 time. Treated 70cases, 58 cases were cured, 5 cases were excellent, effective in 2 cases,ineffective in 5cases, the total effective rate was 93%, the cure rate was 83% ^[20]

14. Scrotalpruritus：Portulaca 100g (doubled fresh), addwater 1000ml, decocting, poured  into thebasin after the first smoked wash. Every time 30 min, 2 times a day. 15. Burn：Fresh machixian(Portulaca)grass 5kg, remove yellow stem leaves and roots, wash dry chopped pound mud, adddistilled water 5L, pasteurization 60.2℃-62℃, 30min. After cooling, thefiltered juice added 1%-4% benzyl alcohol preservative, split charging withaseptic bottle, then pasteurization daily disinfection, 3 consecutive inreserve. Taste: acid; property: cold; belong to large intestine and liver channels.

Function: clearing away heat and toxic materials, cooling the blood and arresting dysentery，removing dampness and treating stranguria.

Oral administration: decoction, 15～30g. fresh herb redouble dasoge, or twist into juice.

Topical application: in right amount, smashed and smear on the skin, or wash with the decoction.

Be carefully to be used in the patients with spleen deficiency and pregnant women.
