1Anti myocardial ischemia: Gross saponins of tribulus terrestris (GSTT) has protectiveeffects on acute myocardial ischemia induced by ligating left coronary arteryin rats, which is closely related to decrease absolute value of ST-segment, enhancingremovement of free radicals by increasing SOD content, inhibiting the leakageof MDA, and decreasing the myocardial infarct size[1]. 2 Cerebral ischemiareperfusion injury action: The levels of CK, LDH, NO, SOD and MDA in TST(30 mg·kg -1, 10 mg·kg-1) groups were significantly lower than those in modelgroup. The level of cellular and intercellular edema was reduced markly in thepathomorphology examination. The neurological deficits was decreased by TST[2]. 3 Reducing Hyperlipoidemia: Fructus tribuli candecrease cholesterol, and inhibit fat deposition on arteries, myocardium andliver [3]. 4 Lowered bloodsugar: Tribulus terrestris decreased significantly blood sugar level, serum andpancreas lipid peroxidation (LPO) and increased serum insulin in alloxandiabetic mice and improved their glucose tolerance [4]. The decoction ofTribulus terresteis could significantly inhibit the gluconeogensis andinfluence glycometabolism on normal mice. The decoction could also reduce thelevel of triglyceride and the content of cholesterol in the plasma [5]. 5 Diuretic:Tribulusterrestris fruithad obvious diuresis action to dogs [6]. 6 Imporved sexfunction: GSTT can promote sperm production, and enhance the viability ofsperm, increased libido, and promote the estrus of female rats, improve thereproductive capacity, and no toxicity and teratogenicity [7]. 7 The others:Tribulus terrestris had remarkable antithrombotic and analgesic activity [8].They both expressed prominent anti-chronic inflammatory effect. The extracts oftribulus terrestris inhibit tyrosinase activity [9]. |

[Clinical trial] | 1. Calcaneal spur: Patient's legs were macecate into the Jili vinegar extract for 30 min each time, once or twice a day. 90 cases of patients were treated with this medicine, pain was eased after 3~5 days, pain was disappeared after 15 day's treatment. Only seven cases were relapsed, but condition were stable when treated again[1]. 2. Gouty arthritis: 500~ |
