Herpes zoster: Fresh herbs were mash up and applied on the affect area, changed medicine every 12h, Shuanghuanglian injection and glucose injection were used at the same time, five days as one course of treatment. Patients who accompany with high fever was given 2~5g dexamethasone too. Results: 50 cases of patients were treated with this method, 36 cases were cured within one course of treatment, ten cases were cured within two course of treaments, four cases were invalid, the overall effective rate was 92％^[1].

Taste: sweet, tastless; property: cold; belong to lung and liver channels.

Function: clearing away the heat-evil and removing toxic agents, eliminating wetness, arresting bleeding.

Syndromes to be treated: conjunctive congestion with swelling and pain, sore throat, toxic heat carbuncles, boils, erysipelas, hot burns, snake bites, jaundice, diarrhea due to damp-heat, trauma, bleeding, blood in the stool, uterine bleeding.

Oral administration: decoction, dry herb 9～15g. fresh herb 20～30g;

Topical application: in right amount, smashed and smear on the skin, or drip the eye with the decoction.

Forbid to be used in the carbuncle ulcerated patients.

1.       Sore at the early stage

2.       Traumatic hemorrhage

3.       Sore throat

4.       Icteric hepatitis, and persistent hepatitis
