[Ecology] | Cottonrose Hibiscus Flower or Leaf prefers warm、moist and sunny enviroment, resistants to half-shadow and cold partly.No strict demand of soil,but the fertile、moist、well-drained sandy soil is optimum for growing.Could be cultivated in the solar orientation courtyard and pond side, the daily management is rough, pay attention to watering when drought, fertilizing maturity organic manure in the periphery groove of plant every winter and spring, water and cover soil in time after fertilizing.Some tender branches would be winterkilled which planted in cold area,don’t worry about it,new branches will sprouting when weather becomes warmer in spring. [Pharmacological activities] |
1. Antiinflammatory: Water extract and total flavonoids show an anti nonspecific inflammation activity but have no relieve fever activity[1-3]. 2. Hepatoprotection: hibiscus mutabilis l. extract can alleviate hhepatocellular injuries and protection activity on hepatic injury rat model induced by carbon tetrachloride[3]. In addition, it show a anti hepatic fibrosis activity on rat hepatic fibrosis model induced by carbon tetrachloride[5]. 3. Bacteriostasis and Repress Parasite: Its powder and water extract show a repress infusorian and inhibit aeruginosus bacillus, escherichia coli, staphylococci activity in vitro[2,4]. 4.Effect on Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury: Total flavonoids can obviously improve nephridial tissue pathology injuries and renal function incuced by renal ischemia-reperfusion injury[3]. |

[Clinical trial] | 1.Appendicitis: 288 cases of patients in treatment group were treated with Mufurongye of external application. 269 cases in control group were treated with conservative treatments. Both group were given anti infection treatment first when patients were admitted to hospital. Resutls: in the treatment group, 268 cases were cure(93.1%), 16 cases had significant effects(5.6%), three cases had effects(1.0%), one case was invalid(0.3%). Results showed that effects of treatment group were better than control gourp (P<0.05)[1]. 2. Trichomonas vaginitis: 58 cases of patients were treated with hip bath in potassium permanganate solution first, then used Mufurong flower to wash vagina, one time a day, 5~7 days as one course of treatment. Results showed that 55 cases were conversed to negative, ten cases were invalid but continued the treatment3 ~5 days, and three cases were conversed to negative. The effective rate was 89.7%, seven cases were invalid 3. Children anormogenesis of breast: Fresh herbs were mash up with vinegars and applied on the nipples, one time a day, seven days as one course of treatment, two course were needed for patients. Results: 60 cases were treated totally, 50 cases were cure(83%), seven cases' condition had improved(12%), three cases were invalid(5%), the effective rate was 95%[3]. 4. Acute mammitis: Fresh herbs were mash up with tea oil and applied on the breasts, 2~3 times a day. Results: all 36 cases of patients were cured, symptoms were disappeared within 2~5 days, the effective rate was 100%, and the drugs have no toxic and side effects for the mother and infants[4]. 5. Epidemic parotitis: Mufurong flower were mash up with eggs white and applied on the affect area, one time a day. 70 cases of patients were treated totally, 54 cases were cured, 16 cases' condition had improved and no toxic and side effects were found[5]. 6. Induration of muscle injection: 28 cases of patients in treatment group were treated with Mufurongye cream, one time a day, 3~4 days as one course of treatment, 1~2 course was needed. Another 28 cases in control group were treated with hot towel or hot water bog. Results: effective rate of treatment group was 92.86%, which was better than control group(P<0.01)[6]. 7. Phlebitis: Fresh herbs of Mufurong flower and leaves were mash up and applied on the affect area, bandage was changed twice a day at morning and night. 32 cases of patients were treated. Results: 15 cases of mild phiebosierosis patients, 14 cases were cured, one case had significant effects; 16 cases of moderate patients, four cases had significant effects, 12 cases had effects; one severe patient was invalid. The overall effective rate was 96.9% [7]. |
