[Ecology]     It mostly is cultivated in garden,It prefers warmenough lightwell-drained enviroment.Growth temperature is between 15 to 25strong drought-resistance.It requires loose dankfertile and wet sandy soil.  
[Chemical composition]

The leaves contains steroidal saponin, after the hydrolysis hecogenin9(11)-dehydrohecogeninmanogeninpseudohecogenin[1] was obtained.

The leaves and roots contains hecogenin , furostanol glycoside, tigogenin, gitogenin[1].  
[Pharmacological activities]

1. Anti-inflammatory: Goldenmargin Agave agave administered 40g (crude drug) / kg, which the inhibitory rate of rat paw edema induced by carrageenan greater than 31%; which the inhibition rate of croton oil-induced mouse ear edema is 45%; which inbibit mice abdominal capillary permeability and rat leukocyte chemotaxis [1].

2. Others: Fresh leaf decoction of Goldenmargin Agave administered 20g/kg for six days, which could significantly prolong the survival time of mice under hypoxic[2]. The fresh juice has a laxative and diuretic effect; have some therapeutic effect on dogs with experimental nephritis [3].

 
[Clinical trial]

Chronic bronchitis: longshelankoufuye for the treatment of chronic bronchitis in 85 cases, 20 ml per time, 3 timesper day, seven days as a period of treatment. Results: the treatment group inease chronic bronchitis cough, sputum, breathing, the symptom such as wheezingsound  was better than the control group(P < 0.05), the total effective rate was 94.1%, which was higher than thatof 72.2% in control group (P < 0.01) [1] .
