This plant contains essential oils: 4-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-pentanone, hexadecanoicacid, 8，11-octadecedienoic acid^[1]; aspartic acid, threonine, glumatic acid, alanine, leucine, tyrosine^[2]; 1-O-β-glucopyranosyl-2-[（hydroxyloctadecanoyl）amido]-48-octadecadiene-1，3-diol, coniferin, β-sitosterol, β-daucosterol^[3].

1. Antitussive effects: Water, alcohols, esters, three kinds of Rhizoma Typhonii Flagelliformis extracts could significantly extend mouse cough latency induced by the concentrated ammonia wax, reduce cough frequency, have a better effect [1].

2. Expectorant effects: Water, alcohols, esters, three kinds of Rhizoma Typhonii Flagelliformis extracts could significantly increase the excretion of phenol red, which the effects of acetate extract material are slightly stronger than alcohol extracts and the water extraction, have a good expectorant effect[1].

3. Antiasthmatic effects: Asthma caused by overall spray, the Rhizoma Typhonii Flagelliformis water extracts and alcohol extracts of 90g/kg can significantly prolong asthma incubation period, with anti-asthmatic effect [1].

4. Analgesia effects: Water, alcohols, esters, three kinds of Rhizoma Typhonii Flagelliformis extracts could significantly reduced writhing induced by acetic acid in mice, have a better analgesic effect [1].

5. Anti-inflammatory anti-allergy: Water, alcohols, esters, three kinds of Rhizoma Typhonii Flagelliformis extracts could significantly inhibited xylene-induced ear edema in mice [1], and granuloma and peritoneal capillary permeability of mice have significant inhibition, with the anti-inflammatory effects; Rhizoma Typhonii Flagelliformis water extraction material and alcohol extracts can significantly inhibit histamine-induced allergic reactions and dinitrochlorobenzene-induced delayed hypersensitivity and mouse passive cutaneous allergic reactions ,with better anti-allergic effects [2].

6. Sedative effects: Water, alcohols, esters, three kinds of Rhizoma Typhonii Flagelliformis extracts could significantly inhibit the spontaneous activity of walking time in mice and the number of dual forelimb lifting up,with a significant sedative effect [1].
