1 Antiandrogen and hair growth: The alcohol extracts of Lygodiumjaponicum promote hair growth and antiandrogeneffects [1].

2 Choleretic: Lygodiumjaponicum injected into the rat duodenum, after two hours, the cholereticeffect achieve the highest value. Choleretic effect and the dose-relatedincrease in choler [2,3].

3 Antibacterialactivities: Lygodium japonicum to four kinds test strain has bacteriostasisactivity. The bacteriostasis effect of Lygodium japonicum alcohol extracts onbeta hemolytic streptococcus was best at 37 ,max bacteriostasis ring was 8.5 mm. The bacteriostasis effect of Lygodiumjaponicum alcohol extracts on gamboge coccus, staphylococcus aureus andsubtilis was best at 42 ,max bacteriostasis ring was 21 mm, 13.2 mm and 6.5 mm, respectively. The maxantibacterial ring of alcohol extracts to gamboge coccus, staphylococcusaureus, subtilis and beta hemolytic streptococcus at pH for 7.6 were 9.1 mm, 8.2mm,9 mm and 11.3 mm, respectively. The MIC of Lygodium japonicum aqueous andthe alcohol extracts to the gamboge coccus, beta hemolytic streptococcus, subtilisand staphylococcus aureus were 25%, 12.5%, 12.5%, 25% and 3.12%, 1.56%, 6.25%, 3.12%,respectively [5].

[Clinical trial]

1. Stomachache: 31 cases patients (ten cases of chronic superficial gastritis, two cases of chronic atrophic gastritis, five cases of duodenal ulcer, three cases of duodenitis, two cases of Compound ulcer, four cases of CSG combined with duodenal ulcer, one case of gastric cancer and nine cases of positive helicobacter pylori) were treated with Haijinsha. Results showed that eight cases had significant effect, eighteen cases have effect, five cases were invalid [1].

2. Infantile diarrhea: Fresh herbs were mash up with 100 ml rice-washing water and certain amounts of honey were added in it. Infants over one year could take the herbs 50ml each time, twice a day, no more than two days [2].
