1. Analgesia: Essential oil of Alpinia zerumbet (EOAz,) (30, 100, 300 mg / kg) ,let the writhing number of mice within 20 minutes reduce from 48.5 in the model group to 36.0, 17.2 and 10.8,respectively. EOAz (100, 300 mg / kg) extend incubation period of the pain response in mice within the observation period of 30 to 180 minutes. In the formalin test, the first five minutes after the injection of formalin is as for the first phase of the experiment, 15 to 30 minutes for Phase 2. EOAz at 100 mg / kg only reduced the licking time of phase 2 (38.53%), and licking time of stage 1 and 2 at 300 mg / kg were reduced by 22% and 93.99% [1]. 2. Others: Water and ethanol extract of Alpinia zerumbet leaves can inhibit the isolated frog heart, contract intestinal canal of isolated guinea pig ,and its toxicity in mice is very small[2]. |
