Kusen (flavescens)

1 Treat bacillarydysentery ①made kusen as 50% decoction,injection and tablet which contain crude 0.5g. Take the decoction20-30ml every time, 3 times a day;Injection 4ml every time, twice a day, intramuscularor intravenous injection,or add 4-8ml into 500ml 10% glucose solution intravenous drip; oral 2-4pieces every time, 4 times a day, all are 7-10 days as a course of treatment. Systematic observation 129 cases, all cured. The time of defecate number returned to normal: The longest was 10 days, the shortest was 1 day, an average of 4days, the time of fecescolour and lustre and shape return to normal: the longest was 10 days, theshortest was 1 day, an average of 4.4 days ^[1].② use the tasteless matrine tablets (every piece 0.3g),adult 0.6g/time, 3times a day after meals; childrenaccording to 40- 50mg / (kg-d), dividethe total 3 times, oral, 5-7 days as a course of treatment. Treat bacillary dysentery, enteritis more than 200cases, the average effective rate up to 95.9%, generally has no adverse effects, tinyminority patients have slight and transitory dizziness, nausea ^[2]. ③inject 1ml 100% kuseninjection into the tianshu and zhixie cave every day,continuous 5-19 days. Used for 40 cases of bacillary dysentery, 37 cases were acute bacillary dysentery (11 cases were light, medium-sized14 cases, and heavy12 cases), 3 cases were acute break out with chronic dysentery.Result: 38 cases were cured,accounting for 95%, 1 improved,the total effective rate was 97.5%,1 case was ineffective. The average treatment time was 5.5 days. No recurrence in 1 month ^[3]. ④ take kusen 10g,grind powder, mix with warm water and surnamethe Umbilicus region. Makethe Umbilical eye as a centre,the area is​​10cm2, about1mm thick, then covered with two layers gauze, withbellyand outside, 2-3h each time,2 times daily.Treat acute bacillary dysentery 80 cases, 69 cases were cured, improved 8 cases, the cure rate was 86%, the total effective rate was 96%. The patients has fever onthe abdomen, the peristalsis enhance a bit, exhaust smooth, and the symptoms ofabdominal pai, the time of defecate and tenesmus relieve gradually, with the phenomenon of diuresis^[4,5].

2.Treatment trichomoniasispyelonephritis: kusen capsule (eachpill contain crude drug 5g), 4 pills each time, 3 timesa day,15 days a course; Control group with metronidazole, 600mg each time, 3 times a day, 15 days a course. Kusen grouptreat 91 cases,metronidazole group 83 cases. Results: kusen group cured 87cases (symptoms, signs completelydisappeared, continuous urineconvertion, urinary sediment and secretionsmears and urine culturewere negative 3 times), account for 95.6%.Improved (symptoms, signs disappearedor significantly reduced, urine convention nearly normal, but urineculture trichomonas positive)2 cases, 2 invalid, 6 recurrence,the total effective rate was 97.8%;Metronidazole group cured 76 cases, accounting for 91.6%. Improved 3, 4 invalid, 9 recurrence, the totaleffective rate was 95.29%. Theefficacy were similar in the 2 groups, but the averagedays of kusen group’s clinical symptoms and signsdisappeared, urine convention restore normal was shorter than the metronidazole group, Theside effects were less than the metronidazole group^[6].

3. treatmenteczema, dermatitis and other skin diseases：100% kusen injectionintramuscularly, every 2-4ml a day; with 2-4 tablets of kusen (each tabletcontain crude drug 0.3g), 3-4 times a day, 7days a course. Treat 148 cases with acute and subacute eczema, privates eczema and dermatitis. The cured rate was 6.1%(symptoms disappeared basically, rash vanish basically), effectiverate was 29.79% (the symptoms reduced significantly, skin lesions vanishobviously), the total effective rate was 79%. Can alsouse to treat urticaria, psoriasis etc., have certain itchingand anti-allergic effects ^[7].

4. Treatment cervicitismakethe “fudekang” bubbles aerosol with the alkaloids of kusen as amain material, give medicine at cervix, 2 times a week.5 times as a course.Treatcervical 748 cases,the total effective rate was 98.9%, thecure rate was 69.69%. Basic cured 16.5%, improved 12.8%,invalid 1.1% ^[8]. Itwas reported that use the bubble aerosol of radic sophorae flavescentis crystallize alkaloidsto treat 50 cases of cervical erosion, effective all, the cured rate up to 80% ^[9].

5．Treatlung, heart disease  Kusen extracttablets (Ⅱ)  (eachcontain dry extract 0.2g), 4-6 tablets every time, aftermeals, 3 times daily, 15-20 days acourse; Total Alkaloids of kusen injection (each 2ml contain 50mg TotalAlkaloids). 2ml intramuscular injectionevery time, 1-2 times a day,15-20 days acourse; Oxymatrine injection (each2ml contain Oxymatrine 50mg) 50-100mg add 20ml 10% glucose solution intravenous, 1-2 times a day, or 100-250mgadd 250-300ml 5%-10% glucose solutionintravenous drip, once a day, 10 days a course. Treat lung, heart disease 40 patients 53 cases, 11 cases oral(pulmonary heart 7, chronic bronchitis 1, chronic bronchitiscompound with emphysema4, asthmal, hypertension heart 1), improved in five cases, 6 cases were invalid. Intramuscular injection the Total Alkaloids 13 cases (7 pulmonaryheart, 1 asthma, rheumatic heart 3,coronary heart disease 1, hypertension heart 1), improved 8, invalid 5; Intravenous Oxymatrine 29 cases (pulmonary heart 12, chronic bronchitis 1, chronic bronchitis compound with emphysema5, pneumonia 2, lung cancer 2, coronary heart disease 3, hypertension heart1,rheumatic heart disease 3), 4 effective,markedly improved 17 cases, 8 invalid. Thetotal effective rate was 64.6%, the rate of oral, intramuscular,intravenous drip was 45.5%, 61.5%, 72.4% respectively. No serious toxicity reaction observed during theprocess of drug use, individual have the symptom such as dizziness,nausea ^[10].

6. Treat thedysfunction of temporomandibular joint

Inject the radixsophorae kusen injection in the sensitive pain point of temporomandibularjoint, 2-4ml each time, 1-2 days a time. 3-7 times a course. Observed 100cases, 47 cased were cured (clinical symptom disappeared, function restored),53 cases improved (clinical symptom disappeared, but still feel light pain oruncomfortable due to the weather and bit the solid food), the total effectiverare was 100%. The shortest time was 3, and the longest was 7. Normally thepain will slowly be reduced or disappeared after 2-5 days; Mostly the noisedisappeared in a short time. No treatment for the recurrence without pain. Theabnormal condition of mouth open (too big or too small), mouth shape willrecovered with the pain reduced and disappeared ^[11].

7. Insomnia.Oral or nasal feeding 50% kusen syrup, adult 20ml, pediatric 5-15ml, instead ofsedative-hypnotics. 101 cases were observed, the effective rare was 95%. Amongthem, 51 cases showed quick results (fall into sleep in 15 minutes after takingthe drug), accounts for 50.9%, 31 cases showed obvious effective (fall intosleep in 30 minutes after taking the drug), accounts for 30.7%; 14 cases showedpositive results (fall into sleep in 60 minutes after taking the drug),accounts for 13.8%; 5 cases invalid (can't fall into sleep in 60 minutes aftertaking the drug), accounts for 5%. The quickest was 3 minutes; maintenance 3-12hours. The syngignoscism for the infection cases were the best, and didn't appearmarkedly side effects.

8. Arrhythmia

30% kusendecoction, take 50ml every morning and afternoon; or take kusen tablets (1.5gcrude drug per tablet), daily 4 tablets with 5 tablets each time, last for 2-8weeks. Frequence ventricular premature 32 cases, 13 cases markedly effective(symptoms improved, no premature contraction), 16 cases improved (symptomsimproved, premature contraction with 1-3 time per minute), 3 cases invalid, thetotal effective rate was 90.6%.②kusen tablets (2.0g crude drug per tablet),3-10 tablets (5 tablets on average) each time, 3 times a day (kusen injectionintramuscular injection for individual patient, 2-4ml each time, 2 times a day.Take kusen tablets instead after 4-8 weeks. The shortest courses were 8 weeks;the longest were 9 months, 11 weeks on average. Cure 167 cases of quickarrhythmia, have certain effect, among them, 150 cases were proiosystole, 39cases markedly effective(the original arrhythmia disappeared, no recurrence orpremature contraction by 3-5 times per minute, symptoms improved), 54 caseseffective( The original arrhythmia was reduced by 1/2-1/3, and the symptomslast for 4 weeks and improved, less effect by taking other  anti- arrhythmia drugs, the symptomsdisappeared or reduced 1/2-1/3 after taking kusen tablets, last for 4 weeks),the effective rate was 62%.

9. Hypoleukocytosis:Intramuscular injection kusen Crystallization alkali, 200-400mg every time, 1-2times a day. Check the amount of leukocyte one time after 3-7 days. 251 casesobserved in total, the total effective rate was 72.5%. 30 cases caused byradiotherapy, completely effective 22 cases, accounting for 73.33%, 28effective, the total effective rate was 93.33%, the rate of interleukinincreased was 72.55%; 20 cases caused by chemotherapy, completely effective 8cases, accounting for 40%, 13 effective, the total effective rate was 65%, therate of leukocyte increased was 52.15%. The effective of reduce of white bloodcells caused by radiation therapy was better than that of chemotherapy ^[9].

10. Geriatricsacute non-lymphocytic leukemia   

Add 500mg kuseninjection into 500ml 5% glucose intravenous drip, once a day, treatment 26cases. Control group 32 cases, subcutaneous injection with cytarabine 10mgevery time, 2 times a day, intramuscular injection330U Vitamin D, daily 1 or 2.4 weeks a course for the 2 groups. Result: completely remission 4 and 7 cases,portion remission 8 and 10 cases, 14 and 15 cases were not remissionrespectively in the 2 groups. The overall remission rate was 46.15%, 53.13%respectively. Results: The curative effect were no significant differencebetween the 2 groups (P>0.05). It's showed that the main bases of matrine haveinhibitory effects for the leukemia, and without toxic side effects, except onecase with rash.
