1. Variously processed Phytolacca exhibit diuretic actions[1-3]; Esculentoside A possesses effects of reducing the urinary protein excretion, so it can protect renal function and inhibit the proliferation process of glomerular mesangium and delay the progress of glomerulosclerosis[4-7].2. The experiments showed that Esculentoside A suppressed acute or chronic inflammation strikingly in animal models[8]. 3. Pokeweed antiviral protein isolated from Phytolacca could efficiently inhibit HCV replication in the HepG2 cell model, and block up adsorption of coxsackie virus B3 to host cells[9,10]. 4. Phytolacca acinosa polysaccharides Ⅰ extracted from Phytolacca acinosa Roxb could augment immunologic function in vitro and in vivo, it enhanced splenic lymphocyte proliferation and IL-2 production[11]. 5. Phytolacca acinosa Roxb also exhibits other pharmacological actions such as anti-tumor, treating gastric ulcer, killing oncomelania and so on. |

[Clinical trial] | Hepatocirrhosis ascites:the control group were treated on the basis of the shanglu(Indian Pokwees Root) (shanglu(Indian Pokwees Root) mixed fresh shengjiang(Fresh Ginger) ,made into paste, covered on navel ).14 days for 1 course. The control group were treated diuretics, triamterene, complement the human albumin and hepatoprotective and other therapy based on low salt, high protein diet and nutrition support therapy, 14 for 1 courses.Rusults showed that in the treatment group (30 cases) ,21 cases were markedly effective , 7 cases were effective, 2 cases were invalid, the total effective rate was 93.3%; in the control group(30cases), 16 cases were markedly effective, 7 cases were effective, 7 cases were invalid, the total effective rate was 76.7%, two groups had significantly difference ( P>0.01 ) [1] . |
