[Pharmacological activities]

1. The ethanol extract of Iris Tectorum Maxim has anti-inflammatory, expectorant and analgesic effects[1].

2. The tectorigenin and tectoridin isolated from Iris Tectorum Maxim have some ability to inhibit the growth of SGC7901[2].

3. The tectoridin isolated from Iris Tectorum Maxim could preventi atherosclerosis of rats with hyperlipidemia, and its mechanisms probably is related to inhibiting the excessive expression of mRNA of NF-κB,MCP-1 and ICAM-1[3].

4. Essential Oil of Iris pallida Lam presented a broad antimicrobial spectrum such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Proteus vulgari, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Hansenula anomal, Candida sp, Saccharomy cescerevisia, Enterococcusfaecali, Citrobacter freundill and so on[4].
