1. Anti-bacterial and anti-virus: simultaneous drug delivery and therapeutic administration of Aggregata water extract in primary human embryo musculocutaneous monolayer cells show efficient virus inhibition [1]. Liquid with 20% aggregata can significantly inhibit the respiratory cooperation syncytial virus, the Kesa Ji B1, B3, B4 virus and all the suppression index are four pairs of number, aggregata is a highly efficient antiviral drug [2].The aggregata water and alcohol extract significantly inhibit the herpes simplex virus, are also effective drugs [3]. Aggregata inhibit Staphylococcus aureus, alpha hemolytic streptococcus, Salmonella typhi, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli [4].
2. The impact on the digestive system: aggregata as a dual role of excitation and inhibition on gastrointestinal smooth muscle, and can increase the secretion of digestive juices [5]. Aggregata water and alcohol extract can reduce the residual rate in mouse methyl orange stomach, 20g/kg dose can increase the end-advance rate of small intestine carbon in mouse, a significant inhibitory effect on isolated rabbit intestinal smooth muscle motility, and against intestinal muscle induced by acetylcholine, histamine phosphate, barium chloride [6], also against the abdominal pain [7] in clinical application of rhubarb. Aggregata decoction can significantly increase the rabbit gastric electrical amplitude, excite and enhance the gastric motility rhythm[8]; it can also inhibit the formation of ulcers, antagonize the ethanol-induced cell damage, and has a cytoprotective effect, this protection function of aggregata related to nerve function [9].
3. The role of the cardiovascular system: aggregata can excite cardiac, its volatile oil orally can excite myocardial, accelerate the return circulation, boost and sweating, also excite the cerebral cortex, promote respiration, partially coated can expand blood vessels, accelerate blood circulation, ease the pain of compound muscle spasm [4].
4. Other: aggregata root alcohol extract 1×104 g has anti-histamine effection on guinea pig tracheal [10]. The aggregata powder can significantly shorten the recalcification time of rabbit plasma, and promote blood clotting [11]. Aggregata also has antithrombin effect [12]. Aggregata obviously inhibit murine sarcoma S180 [13]. Furan sesquiterpene components of aggregata root have a preventive effect on experimental liver injury, the components have a preventive effect on aspartate aminotransferase (AST), Elevated alanine aminotransferase caused by carbon tetrachloride, it has a strong inhibitory effect on elevated serum transaminases, AST increase caused by ethionine, and can protect the liver from fatty infiltration [14]. Aggregata water, alcohol extract has strong analgesic, anti-inflammatory effect, its anti-inflammatory activity on the n-butanol part of the analgesic is the strongest [15]. The aggregata total alkaloids (TARL) significantly inhibit rat secondary paw swelling, increase the body weight of rats, but only show inhibition on the primary foot extension swelling; in vitro, TARL concentration-dependent inhibit the mouse spleen lymphocyte proliferation caused by concanavalin A and inhibit mouse peritoneal macrophages to release nitric oxide and white interleukin-I induced by lipopolysaccharide [16].
