1. The Pharbitin isolated from Pharbitidis Semen could improve gastrointestinal movement and exhibits huge purgative action.

2. The Pharbitin isolated from Pharbitidis Semen could excite the isolated uterus of rabbits and rats.

3. The Pharbitidis Semen also exhibits killing effect on ascaris suum.

1. Mucinous cyst: 17 cases treated with fried qianniuzi (Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed). 1 times a day, 2 week for a course. It can be repeated 2 to 4 courses, treatment interval from 2 to 3 weeks. Results showed that 9 cases were cured, 6 cases effective, 2 cases were invalid and the curative ratiowas 52.94%, the total efficiency was 88.23% ^[1]

2.Epilepsy:①841 cases treated with compound qianniuzi(Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed) capsule ( qianniuzi (Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed) 100g, shichangpu(acorus tatarinowii) 100g, cishi(magnetite) 300g, shijueming (Concha Haliotidis )150g ,quanxie(scorpion) 50g ,yujin(Radix Curcuma )150g,tianma(gastrodin)100g, Chuanxiong(Rhizoma Chuanxiong) 100g, Danshen(Salvia Miltiorrhiza Bge)150g, longgu(fossil fragments ) 200g, dilong(lumbricus )200g, gouteng(Sharpleaf Uncaria Stem with Hooks)100g , huanglian(Coptidis Rhizoma) 50g, fabanxia (pinellia ternate )100g ), 3 times a day, 15 day for the 1 course. The control group was treated with phenytoin in 673 cases, 0.1g each time, 3 times a day, 15 days for the 1 course. Two groups were treated for 1 year. Results showed that the treatment group of 498 cases were cured, 308 cases effective, 35 cases were invalid. The control group of 217 cases were cured, 219 cases effective, 237 cases were invalid. The effective rate of the treatment group is higher than that of control group (P<0.005). ^[2] ②30 cases treated with Ningxian powder (binglan(Semen Arecae) ,heichou(Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed), dahuang (rhubarb), zhinanxing(rhizoma arisaematis), zaojiao(Chinese Honeylocust Spine)), 3 times a day, taking 5 to 7 months. Results showed that after 5 years of follow up, 24cases without recurrence in 30 cases, 5 cases had recurrence after 1 year, but the intermittent time was prolonged, continued medication can be controlled, 1 cases were invalid^[3].

3. tympanite: 15 cases treated with qianniuzi(Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed) powder ( qianniuzi (Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed) powder 120g, xiaohuixiang(Fennel Fruit) 30g ) ,added vinegar, made into paste an covered on Shenque point, 24 hours dressing 1. Results showed that 9 cases were markedly effective, 5 cases improved, 1 cases death^[4]。

4. Intractable constipation: 25 cases treated with qianniuzi(Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed) powder, the course was 1 months. Results showed that 8 cases were cured, 9 cases were markedly effective, 7 cases improved, 1 cases were invalid, the total efficiency was 96%^[5]。

5. Migraine: Tthe treatment group was treated with qianniuzi(Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed) capsule in 110 cases. The control group was treated with flunarizine in 80 cases, 1 times every night. Results showed in the treatment group of 71 cases, 31 cases were markedly effective, 8 cases were invalid, the total effective rate was 92.7%; the control group of 53 cases, 16 cases were markedly effective, 11 cases were invalid, the total efficiency was 87.8%.Two groups had no significantly difference (P>0.05)

6.Simple obesity: 64 cases were treated with qianniuzi(Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed) powder ( white qianniuzi (Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed), fried caojueming(Obtuseleaf Senna Seed), zexie(rhizoma alismatis), heye (folium nelumbinis),shengshangzha(hawthorn),baizhu(Atractylodes macrocephala koidz),Danshen(Salvia Miltiorrhiza Bge),dafupi(pericarpium arecae), etc.), 3 times a day, 1 months for 1 courses. Results showed after two months, 10 cases recent recovery, accounting for 15.6%; 41 cases were markedly effective, accounting for 64.1%; 8 cases were effective, accounting for 12.5%; 5 cases were invalid, accounting for 7.8%, the total efficiency was 92.2%^[7]。

7. Child pneumonia: 69 cases were treated with a twist of gold (dahuang (rhubarb), qianniuzi (Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed), binglan (Semen Arecae)). Results showed that after taking drugs, 19 patients of pulmonary rales disappeared in 2～3 days, 33 cases disappeared in 5～6 days, the other cases disappeared in 9 days.Chest, chest radiography returned to normal ^[8]。

8. Pediatric fever: the treatment group(100cases) were treated with double drop heat powder (chantui (periostracum cicadae )5.6%、heichou(Lobedleaf Pharbitis Seed) 5.6%, gualouren(semen trichosanthis )7.4%, zizi(Cape Jasmine Fruit)7.4%, dahuang(rhubarb)11.1%, shudahuang(rhubarb) 11.1%,qianhu(Common Hogfennel Root) 11.1%, jiangchan(Bombyx batryticatus) 11.1%, huangqin (radix scutellariae) 11.1%, bohe(Peppermint)3.7％,etc),the control group(74 cases)treated according to clinical types. Results showed that the effective rate of the treatment group was 84%, the average defervescence time was 1.89 days; the control group was 82.5%, the average defervescence time was 2.26 days. ^[9]。
