This plant contains fructose, glucose, sucrose, demethyl homolycorine, norpluviine, lycorine, homolycorine, pluviine, pseudolycorine, lycorenine, lycoramine, tazettine, galanthamine, hippeastrine, 2-epigalanthamine, vittatine, haemanthidine, lycoricidinol, lycoricidine, p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, O-demethyllycoramine, pretazettine, O-β-D-fructofuranosyl-2→1-O-β-D-fructofuranosyl-α-D-glucopyranoside, O-β-D-fructofuranosyl-[2→1-O-β-D-fructofuranosyl]2-α-D-glucopyranoside, O-β-D-fructofuranosyl-[2→1-O-β-D-frutofuranosyl]3α-D-glucopyranoside, O-β-D-frutofuranosyl-[2→1-O-β-D-fructofuranosyl]4-α-D-glucopyranoside, lycoris-R-glucomannan[1].

The bulbs contains lycorine, lycorenine, galanthamine, pseudolycorine, homolycorine, tazettine, lycoramine[1].  
[Pharmacological activities]

1. Anti-tumor and anti-virus: This product contains the pseudo Lycorine that has the efficacy of anticancer and antiviral. It inhibits rats W256 carcinosarcoma and human cervical cancer Hela cells; it also has inhibition of the Mice lymphocytic fluffy choriomeningitis virus, Encephalomyocarditis virus and Japanese encephalitis virus [1].

2. Others:Contains the Lycoris unparalleled alkali excitement of the animal's uterus and small intestine smooth muscle[1]. Contained snowdrop amine alkali anti-cholinesterase and some analgesic effect[2]. The product of stream extractum have an emetic action on canine, pigeons, resulting in the emetic reflex role and pivotal role. Rabbits administer 0.1g (crude drug)/kg make respiratory secretions increase [3].

3. Toxicity: The dose of the LD50 of mice fed Lycoris fluid extract was 26.42g (crude drug)/kg [3].
